Beef Stew

Ingredients
  • 1 lb stew meat
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 3 large carrot, sliced
  • 1 onion, cubed
  • 3 celery stalk, sliced
  • 3 potato, cubed
  • 2 parsnip, sliced
  • 2 turnip, cubed
Directions
  1. Coat stew meat with flour, salt, & pepper mixture
  2. Brown in electric skillet at 325 in 3 Tbsp. hot vegetable oil
  3. Add water, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf, garlic, thyme, rosemary & basil.
  4. Simmer 1 1/2 hours
  5. Add vegetables
  6. Simmer 1 hour longer
  7. Mix 1/2 cup cold water with 3 Tbsp. flour
  8. Stir into boiling stew until thickened. Repeat if necessary
