Oat Bread

Ingredients:
  • 3.5 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • 1/4 c brown sugar, packed
  • 1.25 c warm water
  • 1 T margarine/butter, softened
Directions:
  1. Proof yeast in water 15 minutes or until bubbly.
  2. Mix 1.5 cups flour, oats, brown sugar, margarine and salt.
  3. Stir in water/yeast, slowly.
  4. Beat on medium 2 minutes, scraping as you go.
  5. Stir in flour until easy to handle, then knead 5 minutes.
  6. Place in greased bowl and turn. Cover and let rise until doubled.
  7. Grease large sheet. Punch down dough, divide into halves. Shape into round loaves and place on sheet.
  8. Bake at 345 F about 22 minutes or until it sounds hollow when tapped.
